August Learner Profile of the Month
For our first month of school, we focused on being Communicators. Being Communicators allows us to learn, make new friends, and share our understanding of the world around us. At our assembly, the students were able to name many examples of a Communicator.
PARENT IDEAS TO ENGAGE YOUR CHILDREN

Activities for Parents:
- Encourage your child to stay in touch with relatives and friends who live in other countries by writing letters, using the phone, or sending an email.
- When working on homework, encourage your child to explain his/her answer to you orally or by drawing a picture.
- Work with your child to improve his/her listening skills. Being a good listener is an important part of communicating with others.
- Utilize school-sponsored blogs to enhance written communication skills.
Communicator Awards
Each month, one student per class is chosen to receive the Learner Profile of the Month award. Students are then presented their awards at an assembly in front of their peers. Here are the Communicator award winners for August.
